my walk with christ

my life and my passions

Personal Life

I was formerly Dean and Professor of Mathematics at the west campus of Valencia College located at 1800 South Kirkman Road, Orlando, Florida 32811-2302.  I am now enjoying a busy retirement schedule that includes some teaching.  I have had the privilege of instructing every mathematics course in the range from Algebra through Calculus.  The full time staff of 27 faculty with at least 60 additional adjunct faculty and part time staff helped nearly 65,000 students annually at Valencia's four campuses..

Educational Pursuits

I am a double alumnus of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida where I majored in both Mathematics and Mathematics Education.  I have doctorates in both Theology and Mathematics Education from the United Bible College and Seminary (Orlando, Florida) and the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida), respectively.

Life's Passion

I love teaching and especially love teaching mathematics.  My other passions include reading, traveling, helping others succeed, and playing with consumer electronic gadgetry.  I reached the age of 70 this past July 2022 and look forward to spending more time traveling with those I love.  My grandchildren are also a passion I look forward to enjoying from time to time. It is said, "If a person finds a job they love, they will never work for the rest of their lives."  I have had the great privilege of enjoying a lifestyle well beyond what I would have believed. I was formerly assisting in building people in Cape Town, South Africa through a company (trust) I have jointly organized/founded named Volunteer Educational Support 4 Africa (www.ves4a.org). I formerly assisted annually with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) through primarily a joint missions program of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church.  I have traveled to Manaus, Brazil (2002), Yungay, Peru (2003, 2005), Simileu-Silvania, Romania (2005), Yeguario, Paraguay (2005), Jigjiga, Ethiopia (2006), Greece & Turkey (2006), Ghana, West Africa (2007), Israel (2007, 2009, 2011), and Arequipa, Peru (2008) to name a few places.  I have traveled to six continents of the world.

Home Life

My bride of over 46 years is Angela Reed Morris. We both have eight children and seventeen grandchildren. Angela has taught in elementary schools for over 32 years and retired from Orange County Schools on September 30, 2015.
