Each One Teach One

Mathematical Me
Dean of Mathematics

I served some of the best people in the world including over 60 full time and adjunct faculty.  I also assisted in serving approximately 5600 students in mathematics courses per semester on the west campus.  I was challenged to grow both as an individual and manager.  Our faculty and staff genuinely cared that our students were both successful in mathematics and would positively contribute to our community and culture.

The day-to-day departmental tasks were handled efficiently by two very dedicated assistants in Ms. Debbie Jefferson (now retired) and Mrs. Christine Belin-Mortera.  The current departmental contact number is 407-582-1625. Dr. Paul Blankenship is the current Dean of Mathematics, west campus.

Professor of Mathematics

I enjoy teaching.  I have known I wanted to teach since the tenth grade. My early instructors in Fort Pierce, Florida appeared to live the life of my dreams. They were well respected by our community and were perfectly positioned in their various areas of influence to help many young students transition into a meaningful life and career.

Passing the Knowledge

I have taught at Valencia since 1975 and remember when there were only four (4) buildings on the west campus with orange groves surrounding the campus area.  Kirkman Road was then a two-laned road with east campus opening the same year.  There were eight (8) full time Math faculty including Mr. Louis Edwards, Chair of Mathematics.  The other seven full time faculty included Don Whelchel, Joe Lewis, Gisela Rosch (deceased), Wayne Jacobs, Ben Cheatham, Lee Sathre, and myself.

Campus Crusade

I was the faculty advisor to Campus Crusade for Christ for several years.  I most enjoyed seeing the successful and innovative programs that assisted in developing the Valencia students as evidenced by the rich reception of gospel truths and the resulting deep change in the lives of students. Dr. Barry Bunn succeeded me as the faculty advisor to Campus Crusade for Christ.

My Music
I played trumpet during college and currently play keyboards occasionally.  I am a former member of the Marching 100 at FAMU where I played 1st trumpet (1969-74).  I afterwards learned to play both organ and piano for worship services.  I have performed several original songs including "Love, Love is in Christ", "There's Joy for the Comforter Has Come", and "Let's Just Praise the Lord our God".

My Harley
I currently own a Harley softail deuce.  I have been taking this wonderful machine out for a ride in Central Florida since July 2005 when I purchased it. I have covered just over 12,000 miles as of July 2019.  It is currently for sale on Craigslist or Letgo for interested parties at a price of $9500.
